Today's Travel Day

Are you kidding me? I can't believe it's time to leave tonight. We had a long day yesterday and I didn't get the chance to post anything (sorry!) --- i worked 'till mid afternoon, then of course had to get my hair done, then home to feed Bishop his final evening meal at home (he goes to the kennel this afternoon) and off to the tanning salon to get a "mystic tan". Let me just say - I've been through tanning. You can't be pastey white and walk around stage in a swimsuit with a bunch of judges looking at you... so I know tanning. And if any of you have ever recieved the "mystic sunless tan" before where they spray you front and back - you know what I know. It's a darn fine tan. I'm afraid people are going to think i have skin cancer - it's that good of a tan. Problem is, it only holds for about a week which means I have to get a bit of "real color" by the middle of next week. We've got 4 bottles of sunscreen with us - I'm not planning on burning!

OK - so enough about the tan. I haven't begun to pack! We wanted to start last night, but other things came up instead. I've only "seperated" a bunch of stuff into different bags... this is the jewelry bag, this is the makeup bag, this is the shampoo-toothpaste-and-other-hygenic-items bag, etc. And people think I'm not organized!

And then there's the shoe problem... I'm not sure how I'm going to handle that. We're gone for two weeks and we're attending a formal wedding. Plus the beach, plus doing "tourist" stuff in Sydney, plus a lot of walking, plus evenings out. I can hear my father's voice in the back of my head saying "pack sensible shoes". The reason I know that's my father's voice is because I can clearly hear my mother's voice saying "Yes! You definitely need to bring three pairs of strappy black sandles!". I can tell, this will be the difficult part - deciding which voice to listen to.

Otherwise, I'm working this morning so that we can finish packing this afternoon and get to the airport this evening... preparing for the longest 16 hours of my life. Supposedly these flights aren't "so bad" anymore - apparently everyone has their own tv screen in front of them and you can choose from multiple movies, etc. I don't seem to be as concerned about the entertainment factor as I am concerned about the "how in the world am I gonna fall asleep" factor - and even the "I've got to get up and jump up and down to get my muscles moving" factor. Oh, the difficulty some people have with international travel! What a whiner am I!

Ok - so - the next time you hear from me -I'll either be on the ground or in the air (Jimmy's bringing his laptop computer). We'll know the answers to the questions posed above... did Carrie and Jimmy cry after leaving Bishop at the kennel? Did someone in LA mistake her for Jessica Simpson with her long blonde hair and killer tan? And which "shoe voice" did she listen to when packing? These questions and more... will be answered... when you come back to www.carriescomments.blogspot.com for more of Carrie's Comments... without the confetti.
